About North Weather

North Weather (northweather.net) is an independent weather website for Canada: current conditions, hourly and 14-day forecasts, radar, weather alerts, air quality and climate for cities and towns from coast to coast to coast.

Official data first

The backbone of every Canadian page is open data from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC): current conditions from its reporting stations, its public forecasts, colour-coded weather alerts, the Air Quality Health Index, radar and lightning imagery, and climate records. Where ECCC does not publish something we show — the second week of the forecast, precipitation amounts in millimetres, water temperatures — we fill the gap with model and satellite data and say so on the page. What we promise

  • We name our sources. Each section says where its numbers come from, and weather alerts are shown with the wording ECCC issued — we never edit their content or meaning.
  • We don't fake precision. A 14-day forecast is less certain than tomorrow's, and days 15–30 of a monthly outlook are climate averages, not predictions. We label them that way.
  • Fast and uncluttered. No pop-ups, no autoplay video, no accounts.
  • Privacy by design. No advertising or analytics trackers today, and your precise location is used only when you ask for it. See the privacy policy.

Independence

North Weather is run by an independent site operator. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Government of Canada or any provincial government. Government data is used under the terms of its open licences.

In an emergency, call 911. For official forecasts and warnings, use weather.gc.ca or Environment Canada's WeatherCAN app, and follow the instructions of local authorities.
